Family Picture

We went up Payson Canyon over the weekend and it was absolutely beautiful! We took some family pictures while we were there but unfortunately they turned out blurry. I thought I would post one anyway since it is our first family picture outside of the hospital. We are hoping to have some more done soon!

Off and Running

I had my six week check-up last Friday with my doctor. I was really hoping that everything would be fine so that I could start running again. And...I'm good! I went on my first run in 9 1/2 months on Saturday and thought I was going to die! My lungs and legs were burning the whole time. I didn't go very far but I felt like I ran a marathon. I am hoping that it will get easier really, really soon. But for right now, I must run through the pain!

1 Month Old

Coby turned one month on Friday. Time goes by so fast! As the picture shows, being 1 month is quite exhausting! Here are some things he can do:

1. He has mastered the art of pooping, especially when his diaper is off :-)

2. He knows how to eat extremely well and thinks he's hungry most of the time.

3. He sleeps anywhere from 2-6 straight hours, gets up to eat, then sleeps again.

4. He takes a pacifier when he's in the mood.

5. He knows how to cry at maximum volume.

6. He knows how to be a great comfort to his mom.

Chris is pretty sure that Coby will be doing back flips in the near future. I would like to see him crawl and walk before that happens. Who knows. Maybe he will surprise us all.

The Pacifier

I am the biggest fan of the pacifier. We have been trying for three weeks to get our darling little boy to take a pacifier. He did really well taking one in the hospital but as soon as we arrived home he decided that he wasn't interested. I know that Target greatly appreciated our business because I think we purchased almost every kind they had available. We tried in vain to get him to accept this gift we were giving to him but instead he took it as torture. He would scream with his mouth open and then get his hand under it where he would proceed to launch it across the room. If he calmed down enough to realize something was in his mouth and not just on his face then he would take it, but those moments were rare. While he was in his swing the other day he started to cry. I thought I would try the hospital pacifier once again because I had not tried that one since he stopped taking it and lo and behold, MAGIC HAPPENED!!! He liked it! If it fell out and I put it back in he would take it back. He even decided to try and hold it in on his own. I hope that I am not jinxing myself by writing about this momentous event, but what a fabulous invention. Thanks to the pacifier creator!

Becoming a Big Boy

I can't believe how quickly babies grow! Everytime I pick him up it seems like he has gained a pound. Well not that much but he is definitely getting bigger. We have discovered that he is not much of a snuggler unless he is really tired. He enjoys facing out so that he can look around. I have noticed a few smiles here and there even though he may not be aware that he is smiling. I don't know if they are true happy smiles but I will take what I can get. Hopefully I will be able to catch him in the act with camera very soon!!!
